#2 Introduction

I’m getting married, that is really all I’ve been doing for the past few weeks besides school and work. I’ve been with my fiancee, Chris, for 5 years. He still needs to get his tux and I need to arrange for the flowers and were done finally! It’s been a lot of work for me and nothing seemed to be going my way. The dress I wanted wasn’t in stock, and the vases were the wrong color, but finally we got everything to work just right! Its a relief and I can’t wait to be done planning it. I always thought that women blew planning weddings out of proportion but I was completely wrong. It is so difficult and stressful, and I’m having a small wedding. I can’t imagine being a wedding planner… I would quit my first day.
Most likely after fall semester (if not it will be spring) I will be moving. We will be stationed somewhere, we have no idea yet. I’m taking summer courses so I can still get my degree from St. Rose. I’m hoping we will be stationed in North Carolina. Its kinds of close, at least its on the same side of the country. I figure we can drive home instead of flying but now because of gas flying will probably end up being cheaper soon if its not already.
I work at a school with 3-6 year olds, I’ve worked there for about 3 years. I absolutely love my job. This summer I will either be working at their summer camp or I will be a nanny for one of the families with 3 kids. They have a 5 month old, a 4 year old and a 7 year old. Either way it will be a lot of fun for me.
I’m completely obsessed with CSI. I love the show and think it would be awesome to do but i don’t like blood and dead people make me cry. I also don’t like the idea of being woken up at night. So I stuck with being a teacher.
I would like to say walking/ exercising is a hobby but I always find an excuse not to do it so I can’t say that. Chris and I do like hiking and we will start that soon, after my ankle feels better (i sprained it).
My obsession is chocolate milk. I need it to get me through the day… it is like coffee to me.
I love to ride- snowmobiles, 4wheelers, motorcycles. Those are my favorite things to do. I don’t own my own but my dad does.
I just learned how to cook when me and Chris moved in together around 8 months ago. I’m pretty good at cooking chicken and pork chops. Steak not so much, I always over cook it. I’m learning more though, and we try new recipes everyday.
Family is a lot to me. I’m actually getting married at the house I grew up in, its in Poestenkill… out in the country. Its nice, theres a creek a gazebo, I’ve always wanted to get married there and now I am.
I’m thinking about doing my film about something with the wedding, or I was thinking about doing something involving kids, and teaching.

Sara,
I’m really struck by your comment that before you started planning your wedding you’d though that brides exaggerated the difficulty–but you’ve come to realize you were wrong. Everywhere I look I see evidence that weddings have become big business. There are shows on tv, wedding planners, shops like David’s Bridal, magazines galore. What about this business have you noticed in the last few months? What things have surprised you? What “insider’s view” could you provide for your viewers?

A wedding? That’s exciting, but I know how hectic it is to plan one – two of my best friends are getting married and they were overwhelmed with school and planning. I think it would be funny or it could be funny if you did a video on planning your wedding and all the things that went wrong, but how you fixed them all in the end so that it was perfect. I don’t know, it’s just an idea. good luck with the film and finishing up the planning!!
